Pennypickle’s New Addition

Pennypickle’s New Addition

There was an air of excitement outside Professor Pennypickle’s Imagination Workshop last Monday. The varied assortment of Temecula and Murrieta VIPs were murmuring and joking with each other. “Do you know what’s going on?” “I don’t know what’s going on.”  All anyone knew was that they were summoned, by invitation, to an event at one of Temecula’s most loved landmarks. Although jeans were recommended, people were dressed for a special occasion. There was a festive atmosphere, as patrons waited for the doors to  open, at 6:30 sharp, and not a moment sooner. Once the doors were … [Read more...]

Old Town Root Beer, Floats, & Memories

Old Town Root Beer, Floats, & Memories

Old Town Root Beer Company, a little shop, tucked in on Front Street, welcomed Taste of Temecula with open arms. Upon entry to this narrow shop, visitors are swept into a time warp--from the Pop Art ads on the walls, to shelves lined with every bottled soda imaginable. And I do mean EVERY bottled soda. On this lovely spring day I brought my daughter and parents to sip root beer floats, and meet John and Cory Montgomery, the owners of this establishment. While listening to their history, I learned some things--both about how root beer is made, especially Old Town Root Beer--and the secret Montgomery … [Read more...]

Cafe Bravo: A Better Cup of Coffee

Cafe Bravo: A Better Cup of Coffee

We at Taste of Temecula love locally owned businesses. We also love coffee. The best of both worlds can be found at Café Bravo in Old Town Temecula. It is located on picturesque 5th Street in a recently built structure that looks gracefully well-established. I was there recently, with my 16 year old coffee fanatic daughter, Katie. We left the house to run errands before we had a chance to eat breakfast. It became clear that neither of us are the “suffer in silence” types when it comes to hunger. I knew that we would find something delicious at Café Bravo. I have been a fan of theirs ever since it … [Read more...]

Baily's Old Town Temecula – Eleven After Dark Nightclub

Baily's Old Town Temecula – Eleven After Dark Nightclub

If you are looking for a new place to party on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, you have got to check out the Eleven After Dark nightclub at Baily's Old Town Temecula. The music there is a mixture of Rock, Hip-Hop, Disco, Funk and House, and the dress code is the usual stylish nightclub attire -- not too fancy, not too casual. Just right. We visited on a recent Friday night. When we arrived at 10:30, the crowd was still fairly light. I guess that's why it's called Eleven After Dark, because, after 11 the crowd started rolling in and the place got packed pretty quickly. The security staff at Baily's … [Read more...]

Middle Ridge Winery

Middle Ridge Winery

Last Thursday the Taste of Temecula staff was fortunate enough to meet up with Melody and Chris Johnston owners of Middle Ridge Winery, at The Wine Collective. We were there to sample some wine, hopefully get a wine pick of the week. Done and done. Middle Ridge Winery currently has six varietals bottled with a few more aging away in barrels. This is quite the achievement for a new winery, especially for one that until recently was run out a garage in the Mountain community of Idllywild. Chris is quite the tinkerer and I think he enjoys the creative process maybe more than the actual wine. Our discussion … [Read more...]
