The family members of Wilson Creek Winery are hosting a Comedy and Magic event in their Champagne Ballroom on Wednesday, November 30th, 7 pm – 10 pm to help their friend Jim Hermann who was seriously injured a few months ago.
Jim Herrmann and his family have resided in the area for many years. He is an auto mechanic and has always been a very active man. In August the “unthinkable”happened to Jim. Jim was taking a practice run on his motocross bike before his recreational weekend race. On his fourth practice lap Jim took what may be his last run on a motorcycle. As he landed, his front tire dug in and got lodged in the mud. Jim catapulted and was thrown forward to the ground with nothing to stop his momentum or break his fall but his head and neck. Jim broke his neck and back as he lay still until help arrived. He was transported to a local hospital and underwent a surgery that lasted more than 10 hours. When Jim woke up he had no feeling from his belly button down or movement in his legs. Jim has been through 6 weeks of hospitalization/rehab and several weeks of outpatient physical therapy so far and is making progress. Jim has recovered movement in one leg and has had some marginal movement beginning in the other leg. Jim is wheelchair bound at this point.
Jim, his wife Julia and two daughters live in a rural setting in our Temecula Valley. Many friends and family members have continuously supported Jim and his family by visiting and offering a helping hand. Like the yester years, many of Jim and Julia’s friends and family have rallied and donated building supplies and labor and have already constructed a deck and ramp for Jim to utilize. These modifications have given Jim the ability to hang out in his back yard and enjoy the great outdoors and views that our local area offers. Friends have chipped in to gather and deliver firewood to stock up for the winter and help around the yard with weekly landscape maintenance.
The Herrmann family is very appreciative of the volunteerism and donations to date. They are in need of additional financial assistance to complete modifications for wheelchair accessibility in and around the house. Jim is obviously out of work and Julia has taken a leave of absence to assist Jim at home and transporting him to and from doctors offices and physical therapy.
The family members of The Wilson Creek Winery who are friends with the Herrmann family have gotten behind this cause and are hosting a Comedy and Magic event in their Champagne Ballroom. One hundred percent of all proceeds will benefit the Friends of Jim Herrmann fund. The Local non-profit association, “Charity for Charity”, has offered to assist and process all donations and allow for tax-deductible sponsorships.
Corporate table sponsorships are available. Friends of Jim Herrmann fund is seeking donations of any size for raffle prizes and auction items.
