The Fab Five hits Temecula Wine Country with “Bada Bing” at Robert Renzoni Vineyards and Winery this weekend. My pick for the week is the newly released 2007 Fiore di Fano ( Flower of Fano ) in Italian. Fano is the hometown of Robert Renzoni’s Great-Grandfather Federico that inspired this Super Tuscan style blend and is their “Flagship” wine. The blend is of 42.5% Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 42.5% Sangiovese, 5 % Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The aroma of cherry, tobacco and slight cedar enticed my mouth to sip the flavors of black cherry, raspberry and vanilla, which melted in my mouth…like butter! The wine was aged for 24 months in French Oak, and Robert’s anticipation for this release has set fire into the winery not only to honor is family tree, but to share the passion of what exquisite wine is meant to be. The wine is higher end in retail, $58.00 per bottle, Vino Famiglia Members $43.50 but worth the price…I was thinking of Steak with Puttanesca sauce as I was sipping my way to a fantasy trip in Italy. Robert Renzoni is located in Temecula on the De Portola Wine Trail and can be contacted at 951-302-8466

I was just there yesterday and my friend, Jacque, poured me a sample of this wine! It was really great!
