VYPER @ Miramonte Winery

VYPER @ Miramonte Winery

Tonight I find myself with the future movers and shakers of Temecula Valley. It's a different scene than what you would expect to see. No Ties except a pink tie under a fashion forward vest worn by Victor Bottino from Stage Stop Directory . The  humble leader who rules the roost over this room full of brazen and bold entrepreneurs known as the VYP ( Valley Young Professionals). The meeting can be characterized  as more  a happy hour for young ambitious types who drink local wines and Stone Ale while sharing their passions and leave all pretense somewhere else.  There is no agenda for the evening and … [Read more...]

Hello, "Ladies"

Hello, "Ladies"

So there I was at our Taste Of Temecula meet up this week at Sushi Camp, enjoying one of Donnie's creations. My reverie was disrupted when two of our lady staff members confronted me about my lack of love for whites and sweeter wines. I was shocked and slightly taken back by the directness of this inquiry or should I say interrogation. I thought of saying something clever like "Huh? What do you mean? I like lots of local whites and sweet wines". But I could tell they wouldn't buy it.  I knew I was caught and by the look in their eyes and merely hitting the "fake a call" button on my Iphone was not going … [Read more...]

Aiyara : Thai-riffic

aiyara_0031

Proud is the word that overcomes me when writing the piece on this restaurant. The truth is Aiyara is very near and dear to my heart. You see, when it’s a cold night and you just want to cozy up next to the fire and watch a movie with a bowl of chicken noodle soup for dinner, I would rather cozy up with a bowl of Tom Kha Gai. Tom what you ask? Maybe some of you have never experienced Thai Food, and if you haven’t you have been missing out your whole life! Aiyara is the perfect place to get your taste buds dancing with excellent food, excellent service, plus a chic atmosphere. So I mentioned … [Read more...]

VIBE

VIBE

Music, food, wine, what's not to like. Saturday night was the premier of VIBE at Miramonte Winery in the Temecula Valley, and it was the start of something special. When you think of a winery and music, all to often it is the same old formula, Jazz, Classical and occasionally rock preformed by geriatric musicians. Miramonte's vibe, shatters that formula.Once a month, Miramonte is transformed into a nightclub, slash, lounge on a hill. Cane Vanderhoof, owner of Miramonte, said that they going to take it slow in the begining to work out any kinks and fine-tune the music. Vibe is aimed smack at the … [Read more...]

Visual Expressions at The Merc

Visual Expressions at The Merc

The monsoon that had engulfed Temecula for the last few days, lightened up to a drizzle for the Premier Exhibition of Visual Expressions 2010 at Gallery at the Merc. The gallery was mobbed with over 200 people in attendance, overflow was on the porch as there was simply no room inside.   The premier of Visual Expressions 2010 was organized by Sissi Hale, event chairwomen and local artist. To meet Sissi for the first time was an experience; gregarious, convivial, riske, and opinionated were the words that came to mind as she hobbled around the art premier on one good leg, and another in a walking cast...part … [Read more...]

Temecula Wine Lovers Meet Up at The Collective

Temecula Wine Lovers Meet Up at The Collective

Last Friday approximately 30 members of the Meetup.com group Temecula Wine Lovers got together at The Collective in Old Town Temecula. The soggy weather did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of this group, and everyone appeared to have a great time. Quite a few members hit the Old Town wine scene after the event with a few edging over to the Wine Company for some live entertainment. Temecula Wine Lovers is a private Facebook group run by Sharon Carey, a Temecula native. She has been organizing wine tastings with this meet-up group since early 2009. Since then, they have met almost every month. Temecula … [Read more...]
