The Public House

Here’s a review of Temecula’s beloved Public House, by Barbara McLean:

As the face of Old Town Temecula changes, so does the cuisine, and nothing exemplifies this more than The Public House at 41971 Main St.

From the outside it appears small, but it has a large back patio that is packed on Friday nights when popular local bands perform.

It’s not just the entertainment that’s local. The restaurant also buys produce from local suppliers including Sage Mountain and De Luz Farms as well as products from the Temecula Valley Cheese Co., Temecula Olive Oil Co. and The Spice Merchant.

The menu, though not extensive, has enough variety to satisfy any taste.

The Destructed Chicken Pot Pie may sound somewhat generic — what arrives is anything but. Served open-faced with a chicken leg and partial breast surrounded by fresh vegetables in a creamy sauce on a bed of crust, it is hearty yet light.
